A 18th-century garrison town, Neuf-Brisach was founded at the behest of Louis XIV and under the guidance of the Marquis de Vauban. As the pinnacle of his defensive theories, this last jewel in the royal crown features ramparts and moats, as well as architecture typical of the period.
